Shards of light
fall from sky
on carpet
of deep
and life sleeps
except one…
who must walk
the dogs.
stepping
foot on
this bed seems
a heinous
offense. but
i want to
jump,
ruffle these
covers
and shake
out
the sheets.
sadly
there is no
time
for play;
world is waking
sleepy eyes
peer from
window,
and I
must go
to work.

Laura, I loved the poem! Hope you have a great day! Blessings, Faye
no time to play...maybe another time the world will be stopped and the child in you will have time.
Very sweet, and I love when there IS time to play.
Much love!

yes..i. am .fixed. at. the. window.
Wonderful, with a perfect title.
Life intrudes so suddenly on what is but a moment like a dream; voices start up and . . . well, you've saved the moment here and we all imagine what it's like.
I just love the metaphor here - I am neurotic about having a bed with no wrinkles in it, but in the snow - "I want to jump, ruffle these covers and shake out the sheets" - you TEMPT me to much! OH, I miss snow!
what a wonderful morning you've described...
Beautiful! I want to jump, too.
I love this. The waking moments of the day, it expresses them perfectly. Thank you for these words!
Your poems and words always speak to my heart. I awoke this morning with a migraine. When I read this poem, it was if GOD was saying: Shake off the pain of this world....let ME fight your battles!
Thank you, Laura for continually being a living vessel for HIM.

The deer had rumpled the covers on mine today and left an amazing story ...
oh, just one little jump before leaving... :)
sweet poem
this is lovely :-)
The photo is a great addition to a truly great poem. My dogs need walked, too.
Fantastic poem!
I want to jump too. We always need to stop and take the time to play once in awhile. HUH?
So lovely! I love jumping on the bed with my kids. Somehow we find time to play regardless of how busy our days get. Blessings!
I had to get out and jump in it yesterday.
Go for it!
Does this make us monkeys? ("Mama called the doctor and the doctor said...")
I won't call the doctor on you if you won't call him on me! Next time we get enough for a snow angel, I want to see if I can plop backwards into it before waving my arms and legs.
