For Laure

It is snowing,
they laughed
as petals
came down
and I
a bride
underneath
this
fragrant confetti.

To walk under a shower of confetti as a bride: what a lovely image you create.

What an astonishing moment and what presence of mind and heart to live it and tell about it. Laure who?

This poem was originally written as a gift for Laure, an online friend who arranged a fun poetry gift project called gopoems. Sadly, I have lost track of her, but she is an amazingly talented poet and a fascinating lady.

Laure, where are you?

I'm right here, Laura ... albeit with eyes brimming with tears.

When I was a girl, we used to pick lilacs and take all the flowers off and put them in little baskets, then pretend we were brides and throw the flowers. Sweet lavender imagination... :)

(I guess this isn't your monster poem, huh? ; - )
