Today
i care less
about this today
than i
did yesterday.
for, when i
looked in my
rear-view mirror
and he was
gone, the world
tipped a little.
after i turned
around and went
around the bend
and saw him walking
on the side of
the road and
breathing--with
bits of his car
on the blacktop--
i knew there were
certain possibilities
that would cause me
to want to trade
everything i have
for the way things
are now. i hold today
tighter. and cherish
how we are in this
moment.

Lovely, Laura.
Oh my. I read it too fast the first time...but the second time, I got it.
When our breath catches, it is in that instant, that we would do the trading.
Blessings.
(and hugs)
Rejoicing for you all that he is safe....it squeezes the heart "somethin fierce" as our youngest would say when we face those "moments" of shaking.
Yes, I understand. Would trade over here too. Your words, simple, remind me again. Cherishing too.
Grateful that all is well.
