See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and that is what we are. The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God's children now; what we will be has not yet been revealed. What we do know is this: when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him as he is. And all who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure. --1 John 3:1-3

What an amazing title we are given. Not deserved. total grace.
I happened on this post, thank you for this and the posts that preceded it. This touched me.
...what we will be has not yet been revealed.
What a perfect picture to go with this. Shining like gold.
i look forward to the what will be... such a beautiful soft image to illustrate this verse.
". . . what we will be has not yet been revealed. . . ." You cannot know how often I pray to know the answer while holding on to a thread of hope.
A dried seed pod that looks like nothing could ever grow from it, hopeless, trash. But soon, life and fruit will come from even it. Warmth and green, maybe even a pretty blossom. This gives me so much hope - thanks!
waiting in hope for what will be revealed... this brings me joy.
Wishing you and your family a glorious Sunday!
What we do know.
Not that we know even a tiny portion. But would that I could sit still in that part, that which I already know. We will see him as he is.
the now and the then ... so much to ponder
This is one of those verses that just blows me away. It is rich with treasure. Filled with God's love for us...
I just listened to a tim keller {who you know I love:} sermon on this exact text...it was beautiful. he talked about how John was emoting and the fact that preceeds it and how when we behold God it is not seeing but having our rational truth spill into heart life...everything...well, you see, I'm excited. So beautiful that you picked this same verse:}
So much packed into these three verses. We will see him as he is. I can't even imagine.
Those verses were some of our Scripture readings yesterday!
