Velveteen: Poem
And I
am velveteen
no longer patched--
over muslin,
not silk nor cashmere;
but worn thin
between thumb and
forefinger--diaphonous,
so the curve of my
heart and its happy
thrum is bared through
this thin veil of
gauze. touch me and
see. I am soft--
loved into real.

Grateful you've been part of my own loving into real.
Beautiful.
... sweet ...
Diaphanous is such a great word. This is wonderful, Laura.
Nothing like the Velveteen Rabbit...except maybe the Skin Horse...or Velveteen Laura, :)
This brought tears to my eyes....and thoughts of how real love wears us thin and bears forth the best of us, all at the same time. Beautiful.
