Poem Thoughts: Light and Darkness

your jacket ripples
over the arm of the
chair, the only evidence
you have been here—are
you here?

I want to wrap myself
in the warm fleece, pull
my arms through the
places your skin
has been;

give in to the temptation
to dig my fingers into
the soft, bury my face
in your clean scent of
green …

you are everything I
know, everything
I don’t know; everything
I long for and run
from and run toward.

the nape of your
neck speaks light
and darkness and
I am in ruins,
shattered, by the way
fabric piles over vinyl.

This is wonderful! Methinks you've been reading "Love etc."

Love the ambiguity of...
"you are everything I
know, everything
I don't know; everything
I long for and run
from and run toward."

It's the little things, isn't it - "the way fabric piles over vinyl" - that sometimes triggers a deep longing to be close to the one we love. Beautiful, Laura.

This is beautiful, I love the images in my mind that your writing creates. You've also inspired me to get my poetry writing notebook out again, blow off the dust and get busy! So, thanks! This whole blog is so refreshing.

Little things, yes, June :). I love when they speak out like this.

Thank you, Elisha. Yes, get out that poetry notebook! You never know when a poem might present itself. I'm glad to welcome you here.

Oh, oh - gorgeous. I especially love . . . 'are you here?' Sometimes it just aches, wondering. . .
